Parliament's competent commission approves new Ambassador of Moldova to USA

Chisinau, 08 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration of the Parliament of Moldova has approved candidacy of Ms. Cristina Balan in position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the United States of America (USA), the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The nomination of designated Ambassador is to be approved by the Government of the Republic of Moldova and subsequently appointed by Decree by the President of Moldova.
Cristina Balan is an active political and ex – top manager with wide international experience. She has served as Deputy Chairman of Democrats' party of Moldova (PDM) until present, being directly in charge for international relations and party diplomacy.
The career of Cristina Balan in PDM has focused on establishing and developing party's partnerships with foreign organisations as well as communicating with representatives of diplomatic corps and international organisations present in Moldova. She represents PDM in external events and meetings with officials from EU and USA. She is also an active member of the Socialist International, being part of Commission on Budget and Finance. She received award: Woman of year in politics in 2017.
Cristina Balan is also head of Foundation for Modern Democracy (FDM), which is a platform for experts and opinion leaders from the Republic of Moldova to external organisations, including think – tanks and progressive foundations. She coordinates both its public and research work.
Cristina Balan has extensive management experience, working within recent two decades at leading international companies and organisations, including 15 years in leadership positions. She is an economist by qualification, takes investments to be elementary and holds a diploma of management at Free International University of Moldova (ULIM).
Cristina Balan is married and has two children. She speaks fluently the Romanian, Russian and English languages.
