Moldovan Democrats demand creating working group in parliament to organize parliamentary polls as fairly as possible

Chisinau, 8 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) has worked out a string of proposals meant to strengthen the democratic character of the parliamentary polls due in 2018. PDM demanded that the lawmakers create a working group for the organization of the elections. PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc, made statements to this effect at the end of the formation’s weekly meeting today.
According to Plahotniuc, this group will represent an open platform, to which the opposition parties, civil society, experts, institutions involved in organizing the polls will be invited.
“We will do everything necessary for the electoral process due in autumn be fair and democratic, be supervised by as many as possible international observers, by the civil society of Moldova and from abroad, by everybody interested, so that the citizens have the correctness of the vote they give guaranteed,” the PDM leader said.
The head of the Democrats noted that he had asked the MPs to discuss with the factions to agree upon the date of the elections and vote this date in the parliament till late May.
