More events dedicated to Victory Day take place in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 09 May /MOLDPRES/ – The war veterans, relatives and their friends, MPs, ministers and civil servants gathered today at Memorial Complex Eternity on Victory Day and laid flowers in memory of heroes passed away on battlefield.
The Head of State, Igor Dodon, Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, and Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau attended the event.
Interviewed by agency, veteran of World War II (WWII), Gheorghe Copiimulti, from Harcesti village, Ungheni district, aged 99, said he fought on front since 1944, from Poland to Berlin. "There, I captured 20 German soldiers. I only returned home in 1946. I am glad to have reached this age and wish them all peace and health," said veteran of war.
At his turn, Petrea Mihaila, aged 78, president of the Association of Mariners: A. Marinescu in Vasieni village, Ialoveni district, said he came to pay tribute to those passed away in war. "My father and my grandfather fought at war. We must honor the memory of those which had lost their lives on battlefield. The association I lead includes 30 sailors in need of our help. We often gather and remember our comrades which had passed away. We did not go to war, but we defended the borders of the country," said Petrea Mihaila.
There followed the March of Memory: The Immortal Regiment. Moldovan president, Igor Dodon, headed the crowd. The column started from the Arc de Triomphe and reached Memorial Complex Eternity.
On the same day, the Communists' party (PCRM) and the Republican Council of Veterans held a military and patriotic music concert at Monument to "Soviet Power Fighters," next to cinema Gaudeamus. After the concert, those present at the event headed for Memorial Complex Eternity to lay flowers at graves of those ones passed away during the Second World War (WWII).
This morning, on square of Metropolitan Cathedral "Nasterea Domnului" (Birth of Lord), the Democrats' party (PDM) launched a series of actions dedicated to Europe Day and Victory Day. The programme included: hostages, fanfare, rescue dog training, asphalt drawings, folk traditions and folk songs, "The Hora of Friendship and Peace", and surprises from Master Eugen Doga. There will take place a concert by Irina Rimes, Blue band, Delia, Modern Talking, Thomas Anders on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) at 19:00.
On occasion of Victory Day and Remembarance of heroes passed away for integrity of Motherland, 1,717 people will receive unique material aid. The war veterans will receive a material aid amounting MDL 10,000 and those ones which had not participated in war directly, but provided fighting actions – MDL 5,000 each.
