Today we learn lessons of past laying foundation of future for our country, says Moldovan PM

Chisinau, 09 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip commemorated today the heroes passed away during the Second World War (WWII) during a ceremony at Memorial Complex Eternity. Presidents of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, veterans, inhabitants and guests of Chisinau attended the event, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The Premier deposited flowers at monuments Eternal Fire, Stela of Moldovan Heroes, Mother in Grief and held a minute of silence in memory of those passed away. Pavel Filip also congratulated veterans on Victory Day.
The Head of Executive has pointed out that 09 May is special, being marked at the same time with Victory Day on fascism and Europe Day. "It is a special day because five years after 09 May 1945, there was created a new political structure – the European Union, a union that proved to be able to offer citizens of more countries a much better quality of life and that is the future of the Republic Moldova. That is why, today we learn lessons of the past and lay the foundation for a future for our country," said Pavel Filip.
The PM also said that, in support of the veterans, it was set action plan: Memory. Honour. Respect. "People, beyond feelings, are expecting concrete actions as well. We approved an action plan and managed to solve a series of problems which veterans were facing. For us, all veterans share same respect, because they did not want it, but because that was case, whether they fought on one side of the barrier or another, they did their job of the country," said Prime Minister.
The war veterans will receive MDL 10,000 of material aid and those ones which had not participated in war directly, but provided fighting actions – MDL 5,000 each in 2018.
There live 871 veterans and participants in WWII in the Republic of Moldova.
