Concert on Europe Day takes place in Chisinau

Chisinau, 09 May /MOLDPRES/ – A concert of fanfare and classical music, dedicated to Europe Day and commemorating victims of the Second World War (WWII), took place in Public Garden Stefan cel Mare and Sfant in Chisinau today.
The event was organised by Department of Culture of Mayor's office of Chisinau.
Interviewed by agency, interim head of the Municipal Culture Department, Stela Mitriuc, said the show began with a recital by the Aerophone Instrument Orchestra of School of Arts Valeriu Poleakov in Chisinau. Then followed a classical music programme, presented by the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet Theater Maria Biesu, directed by master Dumitru Carciumaru and opera stars.
The opera singer, Mariana Bulicanu, said that Europe Day is an event that reminds us of the fact that we need to attach ourselves to European values, and for this we need to know them and to promote them. "We have evolved on the most important scenes in the European countries, and I am convinced that if we want to integrate into the European Union, we need to be prepared for it through work and efforts every day," said Mariana Bulicanu.
At his turn, opera singer, Ion Timofti, said that one of the European values we need is freedom to think and create.
There also evolved performers: Iurie Maimescu, Marina Putintica, Ana Cernicova, Dumitru Matu, Rodica Caraulan and other singers of National Opera. They played music by Giuseppe Verdi, Petro Mascagni, Georges Bizet, Johann Strauss, Charles Gounod and other composers. The concert ended with waltz by Eugen Doga and with the hymn of capital by same author, played by all the soloists of the National Opera.
The events dedicated to Europe Day will culminate in the evening with a concert on Great National Assembly Square (PMAN), with participation of Irina Rimes, Blue band, Delia, Modern Talking, Thomas Anders. The event is organised by the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM).
