Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ - The petrol and diesel prices are increasing again, in the situation when the crude oil’s quotation on 14 May exceeded the level of 78 dollars for one barrel for the first time after November 2014. The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today set a ceiling selling price for the most demanded Premium-96 petrol at 19.15 lei for one litre and for diesel – at 17.09 lei for one litre for 16-29 May.

The reference price of petrol for the next two weeks is by 0.33 lei higher than the previous one and the diesel price grew by 0.30 lei, after the prices had earlier increased by 0.4 per cent and, respectively, 2.1 per cent for one litre. The new prices for petrol and diesel will enter into force at midnight and will be in force as of 16 May till 29 May. Operators will no longer have right to sell fuels by retail at higher prices than the ones set by ANRE.

The quotation of the Brent oil barrel today at noon dropped to 78.88 dollars for one barrel, increasing by 0.67 per cent against the quotations recorded at the opening of exchanges, after last week, if had oscillated at about 75 dollars. The oil price started sharply increasing after the USA had informed about its withdrawal from the Iran Nuclear Deal, as well as the imposing of sanctions against this country. More analysts consider that the introduction of sanctions against Iran might lead to a cut in supplies from Iran, which is one of biggest exporters of crude oil in the world. Experts explain the reason for the increase in oil prices by the worsening of the conflict in the Middle East.
