Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/- Promo-LEX observers have confirmed the results presented by the Central Election Commission (CEC) after processing of reports in the local elections. The director of the organization, head of the mission of observers Promo-LEX, Pavel Postica, made the statement today.

In some cases, the number of votes had small discrepancies, but they would not have influenced the final results of the new local elections.

“Several violations were found at the closure of the polling stations. There was a case where the seals were not intact. At the same time, in 99 per cent of cases, the ballot papers were counted by more than one person as required by law. After counting the votes, in all polling stations the ballot papers were properly sealed. In 11 cases the police failed to ensure security during transportation of ballots to constituencies,” Postica said.

Postica noted that in eight cases, in the counting process, the unjustified presence of some people was reported and over 20 reports were inadequately drafted.

“Referring to the candidate who won the new local elections in Jora de Mijloc locality, Orhei district, previously it was found that he exceeded the expenditure ceiling allowed by law. At the same time, rectifications are required in electoral rolls. We are glad that voters have been active and are reporting the deficiencies identified in the lists. Following the notifications, CEC will remove the deficiencies until the next ballot,” Postica said.

Mayors from seven localities: Chisinau, Balti, Leuseni and Nemteni (Hancesti district), Volovita (Soroca), Jora de Mijloc (Orhei) and Parlita (Ungheni) were elected yesterday.
