Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/- The reform of permits the government has promoted over the past year brought major results, according to the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of Moldova.

According to an assessment by experts of the International Financial Corporation, the savings on account of compliance costs for the business community, as a result of reducing the number of permits and optimizing the procedures for getting and releasing the remaining ones, amount to 12 million dollars annually.

Before the reform, the business representatives were spending too much to get about 416 permits. Today the list of permits approved by parliament includes only 152 permits and is divided into three components: licenses, authorizations and certificates. Additionally, a number of new principles have been approved that limit the opportunities for abuse by the bodies issuing permits and exclude the right of the authorities to reject without reason the request for getting the permit, submitted by the economic agent. At the same time, additional sanctions were set for officials who admit abuses in their duties.

The savings of 12 million dollars are due to the reduction in the number and procedure of issuing permits. After the implementation of the national single window solutions, business expenses will be reduced further.

The reform was launched with the participation of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of Moldova, worked out by the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure with the support of the World Bank Group International Finance Corporation experts.
