Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/- The Democratic Party will not make public its choice for the runoff of new local elections in Chisinau, and communication with party members and supporters will be done directly through territorial organizations. PDM deputy head Vladimir Cebotari made the statement at the end of the weekly meeting.
PDM took note of the results of the new local elections on 20 May and decided not to make public the party’s choice for the runoff.
“For the runoff we will not publicly announce the option. We do not want others to communicate in our names and in a scrambled manner and we do not want party members to understand the wrong message. Communication with our members will be done directly,” Cebotari said.
He noted that all political forces in the country should draw conclusions after the 20 May elections, being described as training for parliamentary elections in the autumn.
“As regards the Chisinau polls, PDM is concerned about a very low turnout and we urge people to show civic responsibility and go to polls on 3 June,” Cebotari said.
On 20 May, local elections took place in seven localities in the country, including Chisinau and Balti municipalities. In six of them, mayors were elected in the first round.
