International exhibition of Francophone painters, sculptors inaugurated in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/ - An international exhibition titled, Unity in Light and Diversity in Colours and Forms, was inaugurated at the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum today.
The event was organized by the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry. Attending the exhibition were representatives of the government, diplomatic missions accredited in Chisinau, management of the Francophone Regional Centre for Central and Eastern Europe, French Alliance in Moldova, painters, sculptors, art critics, etc.
In his speech, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi said that the Francophonie provided a wide range of opportunities to strengthen the bilateral relations with the foreign partners, as well as for joint and solidarity actions in the field of promoting the human rights, democracy, environmental protection, promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity.
In the context, Tudor Ulianovschi noted that the exhibition titled, Unity in Light and Diversity in Colours and Forms, fits into a string of events organized in the Year of Francophonie and is aimed both at promoting Francophone fine artists and at educating citizens spiritually and culturally, as well as promoting the beauty among citizens.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, art critic Constantin Spanu said that the exhibition comprised 40 works made by Ecaterina Ajder, Elena Bontea, Valentina Brâncoveanu, Vasile Botnaru, Anatol Danilișin, Elvira Cemortan-Voloșin, Iraida Ciobanu, Iurie Matei, Vasilie Medinski, Gheorghe Negru, Inga Orehova, Natalia Procop, Dumitru Peicev, Eleonora Romanescu, Anatol Rurac, Janne Numella (Finland), Aurel Stanciu and Cezar Secrieru (Romania).
“The exhibition brings out more stylistic options to which fine artists from different countries tend. The stylistic aspect is quite vast,” Constantin Spanu said.
Attending the event, a head of department at the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, Orest Dabija, said that the Francophonie had been by the side of Moldova during more than 200 years and influenced our culture. “Through Francophonie, we try to develop the education system, as well as the cultural one,” Dabija noted.
Moldova joined the International Organization of La Francophonie at the summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Francophonie, held in Hanoi in 1997.
The exhibition will be opened till 10 June 2018.
