Moldovan foreign affairs minister says Francophonie provides extraordinary chance to promote Moldova among French-speaking countries

Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Francophonie provides us an extraordinary chance to promote Moldova among the French-speaking countries, to directly exchange information and ideas in a more and more mobile world, representing an extraordinary instrument of public and cultural diplomacy. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi made statements to this effect at a meeting the director of the Francophone Regional Centre for Central and Eastern Europe of the International Organization of the La Francophonie (OIF), PhD Rennie Yotova today, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s press service has reported.     

In the context, the Moldovan diplomacy head said that a string of activities had been already organized nationally and sectorally within the Year of Francophonie 2018. These activities are aimed at promoting the solidarity of the French-speaking states and their joint action on more dimensions, including the political, economic cultural ones. At the same time, they show the new dynamism of the International Organization of La Francophonie.       

Minister Ulianovschi said that, at present, the institution he represents works also to elaborate a new programme of actions within the Francophonie, which will allow more efficiently using the opportunities offered by OIF to member states, initiating new cultural, education or other kinds of projects in Moldova. Ulianovschi noted that the today’s launch of the international exhibition of French-speaking painters and sculptors from Moldova, Finland and Romania titled, Unity in Light and Diversity in Colours and Forms, represented a first step in the process of revising and practical implementation of Moldova’s cooperation with the International Organization of La Francophonie.    

For her part, Rennie Yotova appreciated Moldova’s performance within OIF, including through active participation in different activities both regionally and worldly. She specified that Francophonie is thus an instrument which can stay at the basis of future positive developments, both from the national and European perspectives. In the context, Yotova reiterated the institution’s willingness to organize training courses for young diplomats of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, giving them possibility of professional qualification both on the diplomatic segment and in other sectors needed for the work in the system.   

During the dialogue, Tudor Ulianovschi and Rennie Yotova exchanged opinions on possibilities of extending the bilateral cooperation, initiating joint projects, including on issues due to be discussed at the 17th Summit of the Francophonie, due in Armenia in October 2018.
