The Plaiul Fagului (Land of Beeches) is a protected area with over 5,600 hectares, located in Ungheni district, near Radenii Vechi village. The reservation was created as an ecosystem of conservation and development of biodiversity, environmental protection and scientific research. This has become an important platform for the studies conducted by scientists of the specialized institutions of the Academy of Sciences and State University of Moldova.
The Plaiul Fagului (Land of Beeches) was created by government decision on 12 March 1992, following the reorganization of „Pădurea Rădeni” (Forest Radeni) household. Currently, the reservation is part of several national and international projects supported by external partners.
