Moldovan foreign affairs minister visits northern district of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - The creation of new jobs, restoration of roads and development of the infrastructure of the northern Glodeni district, as well as other issues of public interest have been discussed by Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi with mayors of settlements, heads of the de-concerted services and district councilors at a working visit to this administrative and territorial unit.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi reviewed Moldova’s main development programmes implemented by the government. He presented strategic goals for the immediately next period. In the context, the Moldovan diplomacy head referred to projects of national importance, especially Good Roads for Moldova, noting that the cabinet’s objective is that this programme be finished till late 2018. The national programme, Good |Roads for Moldova, provides for the restoration of 1,200 km of local roads in 1,200 settlements till the end of this year. The total sum of investments will stand at 1.6 billion lei, earmarked from the road fund and the state budget,” Minister Ulianovschi stressed.
Referring to the regional development, the foreign affairs minister specified that the basic goals of the authorities in this respect were the carrying out programmes on supply with water and sewerage, on energy efficiency of public buildings, management of solid waste, etc. According to Minister Ulianovschi, as a result of the implementation of these programmes, more than 200,000 citizens from 22 settlements will benefit from newly built or restored aqueducts and tens of public buildings will benefit from energy efficiency projects. “The concerned projects will be carried out with the support of the European Union, which shows the advantages of the signing of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement,” the Moldovan diplomacy head said.
The participants in the dialogue tackled a string of problems faced by the Glodeni district, on the whole, and the citizens, in particular. In the context, the head of the Glodeni district, Ion Leuca, demanded a more active involvement of the central authorities in the settlement of problems dealing with the creation of jobs, investments’ attraction in the district, as well as a contest of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry in the process of establishing cooperation ties with other regions and states, especially Romania, Poland, etc. Referring to MAEIE’s support, Minister Ulianovschi gave assurances that all diplomatic missions of Moldova were ready to provide every needed support to establish partnership relations with settlements from other states, initiate investment programmes, promote Moldovan products and services on international markets, etc.
