Moldovan capital's residents expected to come to vote for electing mayor on 3 June

Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau residents are expected to come to vote to elect the city’s general mayor on 3 June. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today set the date for holding the runoff of the local polls due in the Moldovan capital and the order of the candidates’ placement in the ballot papers.
According to the CEC members, the registration of the two candidates in the ballot papers will have as principle the descending order in the number of votes picked up at the elections on 20 May. Thus, Ion Ceban will be on the first position and Andrei Nastase will come with No 2 on the ballot paper.
The CEC members also said that the runoff of the local polls would take place based on the same registration lists.
At the new local polls held in Chisinau on 20 May, as many as 225,930 electors came to vote, of whom 40.97 per cent gave their ballots for the candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Ion Ceban, and 32.12 per cent – for Andrei Nastase on behalf of the Dignity and Truth Platform, Action and Solidarity Party and Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova.
