Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet today approved two decisions on the liberalization of the road and air transport between Moldova and Ukraine, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Based on the protocol approved, the international transport of goods, both in the bilateral regime and in transit for the vehicles meeting with norms EURO II and higher, will be carried out in liberalized regime, without the need to hold authorizations for carrying out international transport. Earlier, the concerned authorizations have cost between 8 and 12 euros.
Thus, the sides encourage the development of the international transport of goods and extension of the business market for Moldovan carriers. Last year, Ukraine provided Moldovan carriers 55,700 authorizations for carrying goods. Statistics data shoes that 80 per cent of the transit transports take place through Ukraine.
Also, the Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation in the aviation sector will be developed as well. The tariffs for the air services will be established freely, according to the principles of loyal competition. At the same time, premises will be created to increase the number of companies due to operate flights between the two countries. The enhancement of the level of competition on the market of air services will improve the quality of services provided and will help cut the prices for plane tickets.
The bilateral documents in the road traffic and aviation fields have been signed on the sidelines of the Security Forum, held in Kiev on 12 April 2018, in the presence of Prime Ministers Pavel Filip and Volodymir Groysman.
