Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ – Joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border extends to two crossing points on the Transnistrian segment – at road Goianul Nou – Platonovo and at railroad station: Novosavitcaia – Cuciurgan. The government has approved signing of protocols for this purpose today.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, at both crossing points, it will be carried out joint control on territory of Ukraine, according to "one – stop – one – stop" principle. This will facilitate movement of people, goods and means of transport.
In addition to improving the conditions for crossing state border, there will be optimised import-export operations and information exchange between parties. It will also increase state border security by tackling cross-border crime more effectively.
In this context, Premier Pavel Filip requested the Customs Service and the Border Police to ensure the joint control at the end of the Government mandate at the other crossing points, especially on the Transnistrian segment. "Let us be sure that this border is also controlled from the point of view of passage of individuals, transports and goods, that we have certainty that Moldova controls everything that enters or goes on this border segment," said PM.
The joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border on the Transnistrian segment became possible after signing on 6 October 2017 of bilateral agreement on joint control of persons, means of transport, goods and objects at common border crossing points of the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border. The document will enter into force on 25 May 2018.
Also, in order to bring joint control procedures at Pervomaisk – Cuciurgan, Palanca – Maiaki – Udobnoe, Briceni – Rossosani, Criva – Mamaliga, Larga – Kelment, Giurgiulesti – Reni crossing points into correspondence with provisions of Agreement, Government has approved today the signing of new protocols between two institutions with control functions.
At present, joint control is applied to six Moldovan – Ukrainian border crossing points, including the Transnistrian segment – to Pervomaisk – Cuciurgan. Moldova and Ukraine have 67 common border crossing points, out of which 25 are on the Transnistrian segment.
