Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - The former parliament speakers of Moldova have been the guests of Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
”This is a meeting with colleagues, during which we exchange impressions and experience and which I believe should become a tradition. So that, each year, on 23 May, we meet at the parliament of Moldova,” Andrian Candu said.
According to Candu, it is regrettable that each legislative period did not take into account the experience of its predecessors. “We can learn from the mistakes committed, as well as take over certain good things which have been carried out during these 27 years of the Moldovan parliament’s existence. I think that we are mature enough to ensure the continuity of the political processes, social projects and reforms, as only through such an approach, we can edify a strong state, in which people are in safety and are confident in future,” the parliament speaker said.
Andrian Candu appealed to all former parliament speakers to make donations to the parliament’s museum, inaugurated in 2017, following the adoption of the integrity package.
This is the first meeting of this kind organized by a parliament speaker.
The Parliament Day is marked on 23 May. On this day in 1991, the former Union republic Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic (RSSM) turned into Republic of Moldova and the Supreme Soviet became the first parliament of Moldova, under a decision by the RSSM Supreme Soviet of the 12th legislative period, set up following the first democratic polls.
