Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ - The state encourages young farmers and women to set up and develop businesses in the agro-food sector. Thus, beginner agricultural producers will receive in advance subsidies from the state, in order to carry out entrepreneurship projects. In 2018, the authorities will earmark 45 million lei to this end, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The cabinet of ministers today approved a draft regulation on the conditions and procedure of providing payments in advance from the national fund for the development of agriculture and rural development.
The subsidies in advance will be earmarked based on investment projects submitted by farmers who carry out economic activity in the agro-food sector for the first time and are not affiliated to another agricultural producer.
Farmers will be able to benefit a single time this financial support, the value of which will be of 650,000 lei at the most. The subsidy will be provided in two installments. The first one will account for 75 per cent of the subsidy’s value and will be provided at the moment of contract’s signing and the second installment, of 25 per cent, will be transferred with the launch of the business, a term which cannot exceed two years.
”In the beginning of the mandate, we were thinking about how to pay the arrears in subsidies. We have managed not only to pay them off, but also to come up with 200 million lei more for the subsidization fund. Taking into account how much the agriculture is spread in Moldova, this draft is a possibility also for Moldovans who left abroad to return and benefit from these subsidies,” PM Pavel Filip said.
The authorities are set to create over 300 agricultural business and more than 500 new jobs in villages. At least five per cent from the national fund for the development of agriculture and rural development will be annually allocated to implement the system of providing subsidies in advance.
