Moldovan official journal roundup for 25 May

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/- The National Strategy for Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings for 2018-2023 will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 25 May.

The document was worked out under a study and includes measures to prevent the phenomenon, social protection and assistance to victims, prosecution and trial of cases.

Also, international cooperation in the field will be developed, national legal framework will be improved, capacities of human resources will be strengthened and information management will be ensured.

The strategy will be implemented in two stages. The first action plan for 2018-2020 includes over one hundred activities. These include: training border guards and other law enforcement officers to respond effectively to trafficking in human beings, adjusting the database on recording the criminal cases on this type of crime and the inclusion in the curricula for the gymnasium cycle of the information on trafficking in human beings.

In 2017, about 250 cases of trafficking in human beings were recorded in Moldova. Their number remained at the same level as in 2016. The cases concern pimping, trafficking in children, organizing illegal migration and trafficking in organs.
