Several EU-supported projects conducted in Congaz village

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/- Several projects of social importance are being carried out this year in Congaz village, Gagauz autonomy, through the LEADER Rural Development Initiative under the EU-funded “Support to Agriculture and Rural Development in Gagauzia and Taraclia” (SARD), funded by the EU and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.
According to the mayor of the locality, Mihail Esir, due to a project supported by this programme, costumes for the folk group "Altın çöşmä" are to be made. “In accordance with the project, we have formed the "Eco düz Yalpujel" local action group, which includes: Câiet, Chioselia Mare, Chioselia Rusă, Cotovsc and Borceag. Recently, a project competition was announced and our village won funding to equip the "Altın çöşmä” team,” he said.
The project is worth 52,000 lei, of which 36,000 are provided by the LEADER initiative, and 16,000 – contribution of the local budget.
At the same time, Esir noted that besides the support of the artistic team, through the SARD programme several agricultural projects have been supported, aimed to create new jobs in the village. It is about strawberry cultivation, spice preparation etc.
In 2018, about 80 villages from Gagauzia and Taraclia will carry out projects funded by the LEADER initiative under the SARD programme, which has planned for this year a budget of more than 3.2 million dollars.
