Moldova has new national sexual and reproductive health programme

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection announced it worked out and approved a new National Programe on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights 2018-2022. The document aims to improve access and quality of services, as well as informing the people in this area.
According to Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Svetlana Cebotari, the new programme will extend access to these services equitably to all people, regardless of age, ethnicity, residence, social status or health. At the same time, the mechanism for estimating the needs of modern contraceptive means as well as the procurement and free distribution to vulnerable groups of population will be improved.
“The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection was committed to provide the population with quality and affordable medical services. In recent years, a number of measures have been taken at national level to improve sexual and reproductive health, but unfortunately, many women in our country do not fully benefit from these services. This programme is extremely important for improving access and quality of service for all people equally,” Cebotari said.
The new strategic document on health and sexual and reproductive rights has been worked out with the technical support of the World Health Organisation and the United Nations Agency for Reproductive Health, and is the result of a coordinated participatory process involving national and international experts.
