Japanese scientist becomes honorary member of Moldova's Academy of Sciences

Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ - The director of the Research Institute in Electronics of the Shizuoka University, Japan, Hidenori Mimura, today was awarded the signs honorary member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM).   

The event took place at a ceremony on the opening of the sixth International Conference, Telecommunications, Electronics and Informatics, in the festivities hall of the Moldovan Technical University (UTM).   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the ASM first deputy president, Ion Tighineanu, has said that professor Hidenori Mimura had been cooperating with scientists from Moldova for about 20 years, and starting from 2011, he had coming to Moldova practically each year, was participating in conferences, summer and autumn schools.  ”In 2015, he brought seven students from his country to the Moldovan-Japanese summer school. The Japanese scientist is a specialist in devices of nanoelectronics, author of hundreds of scientific articles and reports, as well as of more licences,” academician Ion Tighineanu said.  

Attending the event, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambasador of Japan to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii said that the cooperation relations between the two countries had witnessed deep development in the last time. ”I am happy to attend this important event for us. Japan is a quite developed country. The cooperation of Moldovan scientists with Japanese ones, implementation of new technologies will contribute to Moldova’s development,” the Japanese official stressed.  

According to the agenda of the conference, immediately after the ceremony of handing the award, professor Mimura presented a report.

A recommendation on the election of the director of the Research Institute in Electronics of the Shizuoka University, professor Hidenori Mimura as ASM honorary member was unanimously approved at the General Assembly of the Academy from 27 April 2018. In 2016, the Japanese scientist was awarded the jubilee medal, 70 years since the creation of first research institutions, which stayed at the basis of the foundation of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences. Professor Hidenori Mimura is the first representative of Japan elected honorary member of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences.
