Moldovan parliament ratifies agreement on financing between Moldova, International Development Association

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will benefit from additional financing worth ten million dollars within the project, Education Reform in Moldova. At a today’s meeting, the parliament ratified the agreement on financing between Moldova and the International Development Association, signed in Chisinau on 12 March 2018.
Under the agreement, the money will be used to continue reforms in the education sector and ensure the quality in the primary and general secondary education institutions. Those ten million dollars will be used to endow 160 education institutions with school laboratories and IT equipment, as well as to endow 100 schools with special materials and equipment for pupils with disabilities and with special education requirements.
The agreement sees re-allocation of 1.7 million dollars for the restoration of two district schools. Initially, the financial resources were envisaged for the implementation of a new system of paying wages to teachers and management staff. The deadline for the project’s implementation, under the agreement on additional financing, is 30 June 2020.
The project, Education Reform in Moldova, is financed by the World Bank through the International Development Association.
