Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - The financial situation of the banking system continues to maintain robust; the main prudential indexes record high values both at the aggregate level and at the individual one. Experts of the Expert-Grup Independent Analytical Centre have made statements to this effect. Today, the experts unveiled the bank performance ranking made in late last April.
According to experts, the solid reserves of capital accumulated as a result of an austere dividend policy, promoted by more banks, provides “a good capacity of absorption of losses and resources for backing the crediting activity.” The sufficiency of risk-weighted assets remains at a level of over 30 per cent on all banking sector, oscillating at about 30 per cent for the big banks and at more than 50 per cent for small banks.
The banks’ liquidity remains far above the limits regulated, as well as the ones recommended by the banking practice, which boosts the appearance of higher and higher opportunity costs. Nevertheless, the banks continue accumulating profit constant based on a solid bank margin, positive difference of currency exchange and active use of monetary policy instruments (especially National Bank’s Certificates). Thus, in the first four months of 2018, the profit accumulated by the banks amounts to about 555.4 million lei, being negatively influenced by the losses calculated by a single bank (Commercial Bank Eximbank – 118 million lei, as a result of the process of restructuring of assets and taking over by new stockholders).
Expert-Grup finds out that the crediting activity records a slight fostering both in terms of newly provided loans and as regards the overall stock of credits. Thus, backed by a larger and larger volume of consumer loans characteristic for private persons, in late April 2018, the total stock of credits recorded 32.5 billion lei, by about 200 million lei more than in March. At the same time, the stock of loans provided to private people for the purchasing/construction of real estate registers an increase of about 80 million lei, bringing to the forefront, most likely, the first results of the First Home programme. The indexes specific for the quality of the portfolio of loans continues improving and the degree of coverage with commissions continues to stay adequate.
Following the enforcement of the methodology of the bank performance ranking, in late April 2018, the ranking was led by three banks of systemic importance for the national banking and financial system – Moldova-Agroindbank, followed by MobiasBanca and Moldindconbank. Also, against a background of enhanced performances, another two banks (ProCreditBank and BCR Chisinau) register a good advance against the previous months.
