Moldova to participate in negotiations to set up trilateral inter-parliamentary assembly

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will participate in negotiations for the setting up of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine, parliament of Georgia and parliament of Moldova. The parliament approved a draft decision to this end today.
A delegation of the parliament, led by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, on the days to come will pay a visit to Georgia to discuss aspects dealing with the creation and work of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly. The works of foundation of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly are to be held in Kiev, on 9 June 2018. MPs from the three countries will adopt and sign a proclamation and the status of work of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly.
The Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, parliament of Georgia and parliament of Moldova will represent an inter-parliamentary consultative institution, set up in order to tackle subjects and drafts of common interest for the three countries. The goal of the Assembly will be to discuss challenges faced, transfer of good practices in the legislative process field, acceptance of joint positions in terms of foreign policy.
The idea of the foundation was set forth and backed at a high-level inter-parliamentary conference, organized in partnership with the Atlantic Council in Chisinau, at an initiative by the speakers of the parliaments of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine.
