Moldovan cabinet to earmark 3.7 million lei to remove consequences of natural calamities

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip chaired the meeting of Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) today, which decided to allocate financial means to eliminate consequences of natural disasters, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Thus, material assets worth MDL 1.37 million will be allocated for liquidation of consequences of hail rains of 21 September 2017, in Cunicea village, Floresti district. There will be transmitted 2,765 slate sheets for repairs of kindergarten and other building materials for restoration of local buildings from state material reserves. Altogether, in Cunicea village, there were damaged windows and roofs of over 400 homes and social buildings.
In order to remove damage caused by hail rains of September 2017, there will be allocated material goods worth MDL 77.7 thousand to Cobalea village, Soldanesti district. Also, in Soldanesti city, following damage caused by hail and storms of 18 – 19 June 2016, there will be repaired roofs of two dwelling houses, amounting to MDL 138.6 thousand for allocation.
Similarly, there will be used MDL 1.9 million to remove damage caused by snow in Botanical Garden in April 2017.
The members of the Commission also approved allocation of MDL 93.1 thousand to cover expenses incurred by Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) in process of removing consequences of abundant snow in January 2018. It was approved allocation of MDL 125.4 thousand as to compensate expenses incurred by MAI and Mayor's office of Chisinau municipality within process of carrying out sanitation works in Balti municipality,.
Referring to amounts needed to remove consequences of weather in agrarian sector, Premier requested repeated verification of info on expenses incurred to determine amounts to be allocated and exclude irrational use of public money. "The number one priority is to take care of people and help them in difficult situations they experience as a result of natural calamities. Also, this support is public money, which must be spent correctly and rationally", said PM.
