More farmers rewarded at Gala of Intervention, Payment Agency for Agriculture in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated at the Gala of the Agency of Intervention and Payment for Agriculture (AIPA) on 25 May. There were awarded 19 farmers, companies, associations and journalists at the event for special achievements on different sectors of national agriculture, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The Premier congratulated winners and AIPA for their work and emphasised on significance of agriculture for Moldova, given that sector provides 12 per cent of GDP. Pavel Filip said that Government would continue to support the sector and urged farmers to orientate themselves towards performing agriculture. "The agriculture can not be further associated with hoe and plow, they are performing technologies and surely, it will be the one to use innovative technologies," said Prime Minister.
The Head of Executive spoke about the actions that come to support development of agricultural sector. Within it, it was mentioned liquidation of debt on subsidies, approval of a new subsidy regulation and increase of the subsidy fund size up to a record level in 2018. Access to water basins for land irrigation has also been facilitated, as well as initiative to advance subsidies for young farmers and women launching agricultural business firstly.
"This year, there has been allocated MDL 45 million for advance grants. We offer our fellow citizens which went abroad and want to return chance to start business in agriculture," added Premier.
Pavel Filip pointed out that further efforts would be made to ensure access to new outlets and increase export quotas on EU market. "Moldova has quality agrofood goods and I congratulate you on it. Along with wines, we want to see other Moldovan products on world markets," said PM.
The AIPA gala took place at a winery in Ulmu village, Ialoveni district. The PM visited winery and congratulated the owner for successful investment he had made, specifying that agrotourism is a perspective branch for Moldova and this potential has to be extended.
