Moldovan parliament speaker congratulates Georgian people on centenary anniversary of establishment first Democratic Republic

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Speaker of Parliament of Moldova, Andrian Candu, along with senior European and American officials, congratulates Georgian people on occasion of 100th anniversary of establishment of first Georgian Democratic Republic. Andrian Candu participated at the official ceremony organised by the Georgian authorities on centenary in Tbilisi, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Referring to common projects for Moldova and Georgia, Andrian Candu said that EU must play a more active role in resolving conflicts in its neighbourhood. He said that in Moldova, especially in context of elections 2018, to be worried about threats of propaganda and destabilisation generated by Russia.
"Together with Georgia and Ukraine, Moldova is working on creating a common platform to promote interests of the three states. It is vital to unite our efforts to maintain peace, prosperity and promotion of reforms for European integration," said SP.
A number of European and American officials, including European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Bridget Brink, European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiators, Johannes Hahn, attended official ceremony in Tbilisi, Presidents of countries, Parliaments, Prime Ministers and ministers from Armenia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Ukraine, Belarus, Romania, France, Turkey, Czech Republic, Greece, UK.
Moldovan Speaker of Parliament together with Speaker of Parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze, also participated in inauguration of Independence Hall at the Parliamentary National Library of Georgia on 25 May evening. The institution, founded in 1846, being largest library in Georgia with a collection of books of over 3.6 million copies and an important cultural, scientific, educational, methodological and info centre.
