Moldovan, Slovak officials broach cooperation

Chisinau, 29 May /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Premier for European integration of Moldova Iurie Leanca had a meeting with State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Lukáš Parízek in Bratislava on 28 May, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The officials approached the bilateral relations, political dialogue and possibilities to boost economic relations. They expressed openness to hold a meeting of the Moldovan-Slovak intergovernmental joint commission on economic cooperation, as well as a new round of political consultations at level of the foreign ministries of both states, in order to boost the Moldovan-Slovak relations.

Lukáš Parízek reiterated support in Moldova’s European integration path both at political level and through development assistance, aimed at adjusting all aspects of daily life of our country to European standards.

Another issue of interest to both sides was related to the situation in the Transnistrian region and essential security issues. The official said that the Slovak chairmanship would give due attention to the Transnistrian issue and noted the progress made in this respect, including in the 5+2 negotiation format.

In Bratislava, Leanca also had a meeting with a group of businessmen interested in investing in Moldova.
