Moldovan electoral body announces making mold for printing ballots in new elections in capital

Chisinau, 29 May /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission (CEC) today announced it had begun making the mold for printing ballots for the runoff of local elections in the capital.
According to the CEC, the mold will be made in the Central Printing House in the capital and will be destroyed immediately after the printing of ballots.
The head of the commission’s communication, public relations and media department, Corneliu Pasat, said that after making the mold, about 635 thousand ballots will be printed today for the runoff of local elections in the capital.
“Out of them, over 408,000 will be in Romanian, and about 227,000 – in Russian. The ballot paper will cost 0.17 MDL, and the total amount reaches 106 thousand lei,” Pasat said.
The ballots will be distributed to polling stations on Wednesday or Thursday.
On 3 June, the runoff will take place in the capital, where Socialist candidate Ion Ceban (who won 40.98 per cent of vote in the first round) and Andrei Nastase –PPDA (32.09 per cent) will compete.
