About 800 observers accredited for runoff of local elections in capital

Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission accredited about 750 national observers and over 50 international observers for the runoff of local elections in the capital.
The head of the commission’s communication, public relations and media department, Corneliu Pasat, said that the international observers are from 17 institutions, and the national ones from five public associations.
“The international observers will be representatives of NGOs and diplomatic missions. At the same time, the electoral candidates may have one observer in each polling station. The number of observers who will monitor the runoff of local elections in the capital is higher than in the first round,” he said.
Today ballots are being printed, and they will be distributed to polling stations on Friday. About 635,000 ballots will be printed for the runoff of local elections in the capital.
On 3 June, the runoff will take place in the capital. Socialist candidate Ion Ceban (who won 40.98 per cent of votes in the first round) and Andrei Nastase – PPDA (32.09 per cent) will compete.
