Moldovan PM asks energy regulator to provide explanations on evolution of fuels' prices

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today submitted a request to the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), thereby asking for explanations about the evolution of prices for fuels and the last increases in tariffs, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

While taking into account the intricacies as regards the conditions which led to the last increase in tariffs, the PM suggested that the ANRE management analyses the suspension of the last decision on prices for fuels, unless the conditions in which this occurred are cleared up.   

Even if the cabinet has no powers through which it can influence the formation of prices for fuels in one way or another, the prime minister considers that it is important that any increase in tariffs has well-reasoned grounds and the latter be explained to residents in conditions of maximal transparency.  

At the same time, Prime Minister Pavel Filip demanded that the Economics Ministry comes up with proposals of improving the legislation in terms of ensuring a better transparency in the processes of prices’ formation.  

Also, the PM is set to summon a meeting with operators on the fuels’ market on the days to come.
