Moldovan parliament to make amendments to Civil Code

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s private law will be modernized according to the European standards. The parliament adopted a draft law to this end in the first reading today.
According to the authors, the new regulations will regard the status of persons, right to property, obligations, inheritance and international private law.
Thus, a special chapter will be established in the Code, which will classify the procedures dealing with the inheritance. The chapter will include traditional and settled provisions of dividing the inheritance into the legal and testamentary inheritance, determining the succession capacity, as well as the indignity to inherit. Also, the new chapter will regulate the competence in terms of inheritance, legal status of the heir, custody of the chart of heirs.
The new version of the Civil Code will include also norms referring to the consumer’s protection, through which general rules are established, from which it will be impossible to depart. Another novelty represents detailed norms on the status and legal regime of administrators. More obligations have been completed and changed, including those from the investment contract in constructions.
According to the authors, a working group was created to elaborate the new draft on modernization of the Civil Code, which carried out its activity during about four years, at more than 70 meetings.
To become law, the draft is to be passed by the lawmakers in the final reading.
