Effective strength of Russian peacekeepers in Transnistrian region filled with one military observer

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - Two subjects were on the agenda of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), which held a meeting in Bender on 31 May, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
Thus, the Commission approved lieutenant-colonel Yevgeny Safonov as military observer on behalf of Russia.
Subsequently, the head of the General Staff of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, colonel Vitaly Morozov reported the situation in the Security Zone. The state of thing in the Zone was recognized as stable, due to the monitoring carried out by the Joint Military Command during one week.
The issue on ensuring security and free movement nearby the bridge across the Dniester river between the Gura Bacului and Bacioc settlements was considered at an unordinary meeting of JCC, led by the co-head of the Commission on behalf of Russia, Ilya Uvarov.
The sides exchanged opinions; yet, they failed to reach consensus to sign a decision. The delegations in dialogue ruled to continue consultations on this subject.
The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 7 June 2018.
