Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - The management of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today ordered the suspension of the last decision on the increase in prices for fuels, adopted on 29 May, “till the analyzing of the notifications received on this subject, including on behalf of the government and parliament.” An ANRE press release reads that, as of 1 June 2018, “decision-makers will return to the prices from the previous period.”
ANRE also said that, next week, it is to analyze with maximal objectiveness the information unveiled and compare it with the one which stayed at the basis of the initial decision.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip today submitted a request to ANRE, thereby asking for explanations on the evolution of prices for fuels and the last increases in tariffs. While taking into account the intricacies as regards the conditions which led to the last increase in tariffs, the PM suggested that the ANRE management analyses the suspension of the last decision on prices for fuels, unless the conditions in which this occurred are cleared up.
Even if the cabinet has no powers through which it can influence the formation of prices for fuels in one way or another, the prime minister considers that it is important that any increase in tariffs has well-reasoned grounds and the latter be explained to residents in conditions of maximal transparency.
On 29 May, ANRE established for 30 May -12 June the ceiling selling retail price for the most demanded Premium-95 petrol at 19.79 lei for one litre and for diesel at 17.75 lei, respectively, by 0.64 and 0.66 lei per one litre higher than the previous tariffs. On 16-29 May, the petrol and diesel prices grew by 0.33 and 0.30 lei, respectively.
