Over 1,400 books to be donated to Moldovan children from Diaspora on International Children's Day

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet donates to children from Moldova’s Diaspora a consignment of more than 1,400 books, on the occasion of the International Children’s Day, in order to encourage them to learn the Romanian language and keep the emotional relation with the origin country of their parents, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
As many as 417 copies of Albinuta ABC-books by poet Grigore Vieru will be sent to children. Each book will contain a bookmarker with a message on behalf of Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
At the same time, 1,000 copies of the book Acasa (At Home) by Arcadie Suceveanu and Valentina Lungu will be offered to education centres from the Diaspora. The content of the book has been adapted for children of the Diaspora within a project, Strengthening Moldova’s institutional capacities in the migration and development sector, the second phase, with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
The books will be distributed through Moldova’s diplomatic missions from 32 countries, where most Moldovan citizens live.
To promote the national values and consolidate the emotional relations with the citizens from the Diaspora, also other activities have been organized, such the programmes DOR (Diaspora, Origins, Returns), Diaspora Engagement Hub, as well as plays by the Licurici Republican Puppet Theatre.
