Meteorologists prolong yellow code for bonfire hazard in Moldova

Chisinau, 07 June /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has extended today Yellow Code for exceptional bonfire hazards by 13 June and maintain in force Yellow Code of hydrological drought until 11 June.
According to the SHS’s information and media communication service, until 13 June, there will be an exceptional fire hazard level V, of a natural character, and a fire threat of forest strips and agricultural crops throughout Moldova. Similarly, due to lack of precipitation, Yellow Code of hydrological drought remains in force. In this context, Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM) has called on population and economic agents especially to consume rationally water resources.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) has also warned public about compliance with fire regulations. The firefighters have urged citizens not to light dry vegetation and household waste, avoid ignition of rust and stubble. Additionally, rescuers have demanded that in case of a bonfire, even seemingly insignificant, to alert Service 112, because in low humidity bonfire can spread rapidly.
