Moldova interested in deepening relations with Korea

Chisinau, 07 June /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova appreciates good relations of cooperation established with Korea over recent years and reiterates interest of deepening them by increasing bilateral dialogue in all fields: political, economic, cultural, educational, etc. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, has made that statement today during a meeting with Ambassador of Korea to Moldova, Lee Yang – Goo, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
According to the head of the Moldovan diplomacy, an important step towards intensification of bilateral relations, initiation of some investment, cultural and other projects, would be intensification of political dialogue between the two states. In this context, Minister Ulianovschi reiterated the interest of Moldovan side in organising interministerial political consultations as to exchange views on issues of common interest in bilateral and international relations. The interlocutors also discussed topical issues on international and regional agenda.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi expressed gratitude for substantial technical and financial assistance provided through Korean Agency for International Cooperation (KOICA), noting that Moldovan authorities would appreciate its further expansion in various areas by developing and implementing mutually beneficial projects, in particular organising training courses for entrepreneurial groups to familiarise with business management style of Korea in agriculture, light industry, etc.
During the dialogue, Minister Ulianovschi also addressed issue of visa – free travel for Moldovan citizens travelling to Korea, given that since 2014, South Korean passport holders have travelled without visas to Moldova.
At his turn, Ambassador Lee Yang-Goo reiterated interest of Seoul authorities to expand bilateral relations with Moldova in various areas of common interest. In this context, South Korean diplomat said that his country would continue to support Moldovan authorities in implementing various programmes in education, ICT, agriculture, etc., as an example serving at the beginning of the year offering of 150 computers from province Jeju to general education institutions of Moldova.
