Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ – An inter – community service of volunteer firefighters will be launched in Cahul district, due to a partnership project of mayor's offices of Colibasi, Chesa and Vadul Isac, by support of Government of Switzerland.
"The three villages are located in the middle of national road Cahul – Giurgiulesti. In case of fire, racing centre crews may only intervene after 30 minutes of call, precious time in such situations. Having such a service at local level, volunteers will intervene promptly into three localities," said Mayor of Colibasi village, Ion Dolganiuc.
The project budget, which is a new model of intercommunity cooperation, is estimated over $80,000. For project implementation, Government of Switzerland has provided a grant of $50,000. Approximately $28,000 is contribution of local authorities, about $1,900 – allowance of migrant, collected through crowdfunding, and a public association will provide support for over $300.
As a result, there will be trained 30 inhabitants of three villages as volunteer firefighters, and it will be built a garage box at Colibasi with area of 80 square metres, where it will be located the service. There will be donated a car and firefighter equipment by an Austrian organisation.
The Cahul project is due to be executed by end of 2018 under Local Migration Programme developed by UNDP, in partnership with Swiss Government, which provides grants for sustainable development of localities with involvement of outgoing people.
