International Festival Days of New Music ends with chamber concert in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ – The twenty-first issue of the International Festival Days of New Music, which took place in Moldova on 04 – 09 June, ended on 09 June evening with a chamber concert at National Philharmonic in Chisinau.
The concerts featured works by composers Elmir Nizamov, Olga Bochikina, Yaroslav Sudzilovskii (Russia) and Alexei Pilatov (Belarus). The pieces were interpreted by Contemporary Music ensemble "Ars Poetica", directed by Igor Ersac. The concert is part of collaboration project of International Festival Days of New Music and International Festival Transfest in Russia.
Interviewed by agency, composer Ghenadie Ciobanu, founder and artistic director of festival, mentioned that issue of 2018 was a successful one and included six concerts: three – symphonic and three – chamber ones.
"There were presented very interesting works from all points of view at the festival. In this way, composers get acquainted with new creations, new styles and new composing technologies, and audience discovers new sound and imagery universes. At their turn, interpreters discover new interpretation methods, because in this respect contemporary music is more extensive than classical one. They need to know these processes and types of music so they can interpret them appropriately," said Ghenadie Ciobanu.
According to quoted source, festival aims to familiarize specialists, music makers, performers, music critics of Moldova, but also to audience with values of contemporary musical art, internationalisation of musical creation and local interpretative art by connecting to musical processes around the globe and training an area of contemporary musical art.
At his turn, composer Gheorghe Mustea, first conductor of Symphony Orchestra Teleradio – Moldova, stated that the well-known success of orchestra concerts, which are part of project "The Romanian Music on both sides of the Prut" and which were organised in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute Mihai Eminescu.
"This year, we paid tribute to Romanian composer Sorin Lerescu, which presented two works in absolute premiere: Symphony VI and concert №01 for piano and orchestra. It was a great responsibility for us because destiny of a work depends on its first interpretation. I am glad that Master Sorin Lerescu liked the way our orchestra interpreted his works and said that it was concert of his life," added Gheorghe Mustea.
The International Festival Days of New Music was founded in 1991.
