Official report with result of elections of Moldovan capital's mayor submitted to Chisinau Court today

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - The final official report containing the data from those 306 reports compiled at the Chisinau-based polling stations after the runoff of the polls for electing the capital’s mayor was submitted to judges of the Chisinau Court today.   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the secretary of the Chisinau District Council, Vitalie Miron, has said that the documents with the results of the runoff of the new local elections was presented to judges today afternoon. Miron noted that all contestations submitted by contenders, as well as by citizens who signaled infringements during the voting process had been considered till today.     

Thus, under the Electoral Code, magistrates have at their disposal ten days to validate the polls. Subsequently, based on the court decision, the Central Electoral Commission will announce the final results of the new local elections and will issue the identity card to the mayor-elect.  

The candidate of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party, Andrei Nastase, picked up 52.5 per cent of the votes at the runoff of the new local elections, held on 3 June. Nastase will have a one-year mandate till the summer of 2019, when ordinary local polls will be organized.
