Most active participants in photo contest dedicated to European Union to enjoy vacation at seaside in Romania

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - The most active participants in a photo contest titled ”EU sunt EUropa” (I Am Europe), organized by the parliament, will benefit from vacation at the seaside in Romania, within the ARC camps programme.     

A ceremony on awarding prizes to the winners of the contest took place today, with the participation of Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, State Secretary from the Ministry for Romanians Abroad Veaceslav Saramet and Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.   

“Today, you receive what you have deserved and won through your efforts. We every year enjoy special support on behalf of Romania’s government, in different forms, and a special form is to help children and young people from Moldova know the nice world and go to have a rest, in summer and winter, at camps from Romania,” Andrian Candu said.   

State Secretary from the Ministry for Romanians Abroad Veaceslav Saramet informed that 38 young people winners of the contest would go to a camp in Sulina, Tulcea county, Romania, to rest and take part in various workshops in Romanian language, history, culture and on subjects of European integration. According to the official, the meal, accommodation and transport will be provided by the government of Romania.  

“Within the ARC camps, the Ministry for Romanians Abroad has more than 3,000 places, of which at least 1,150 were provided to young people from Moldova, deserving pupils, who get involved and prove much ingenuity and courage. Romania has always been by the side of Moldova and, in particular, it will be like this in the first half of 2019, when it will hold the Presidency of the European Union’s Council and will get involved for Moldova to be more on the European  agenda,” Veaceslav Saramet noted.   

”Romania wants you to bring up reliable people of this country and the European voice should get substance through you. By these nice pictures, we want also Europe follow your dreams and ideas, as you have managed to catch, with artistic talent and delicacy, not only beauty, but also hope, trust,” Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita said in his message.   

The photo contest, I Am Europe, was organized by the parliament on 11 April - 8 May 2018, on the occasion of the Europe Day. Forty six photos, made by over 60 authors – pupils of gymnasiums and lyceums from all over Moldova, were presented at the contest.   

The event was held in partnership with the Ministry for Romanians Abroad and Embassy of Romania in Moldova.
