Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/- Diaspora is a factor for strengthening the relations between Moldova and Canada in all fields, a promoter of the image and interests of our country. Foreign and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi made the statement at meetings with representatives of associations of Moldovans established in Canada, the MAEIE’s press service has reported.
During the meetings with representatives of the Moldovan community in Quebec and Ontario, Ulianovschi appreciated the activism and dedication of the citizens living in Canada in promoting national identity, maintaining close ties with the country and promoting a favorable image of the Republic of Moldova. “"Numerous cultural, artistic, educational and sporting activities organized by the diaspora in Canada reconfirm added value in efforts to promote national values and to confirm the communion of values between the Republic of Moldova and Canada,” the official said.
In this context, Ulianovschi noted effective cooperation between the various diaspora organisations operating in Canada and their initiatives, highlighting the creation of the Canadian Diaspora National Council, setting up a calendar of associations' activities, creating a horizontal consultation network between the Embassy of Moldova in Ottawa and members of the associations. "I think your experience should be discussed during the" Diaspora Days "in Moldova, due on 17- 19 August in Chisinau, and sent to the citizens of other states as an example of unifying the diaspora's potential, achieving goals with effect for both diaspora and country of origin, " the official said.
The representatives of the community shared their experiences on the participation in the Diaspora Engagement Hub programs, the Professional Return of the Diaspora, etc. Thus, from the Canadian diaspora, three projects focusing on social assistance, technology transfer and cultural field have passed the national selection and are to be achieved during this year.
During the meetings in Montreal and Ottawa, the sides also addressed a lot of problems faced by our countrymen from abroad in business development in Moldova, pointing to some bureaucratic barriers and the importance of adapting an advanced entrepreneurial culture.
Ulianovschi pays a working visit to Canada on 10-13 June 2018.
