Moldovan deputy premier for European integration visits Vienna

Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Moldova Iurie Leanca paid a visit to Vienna on 12 June and had a meeting with Austrian Federal Minister for European Affairs, Culture and Media Gernot Blümel. Leanca held a public lecture at the Austrian Foreign Policy Association at the invitation of its head, former Federal Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The officials approached Moldova’s European integration and the basic challenges of the process. Leanca pointed out the importance of a clear European perspective for our country, based on the successful implementation of the reforms and the understanding of the benefits of the European option by society, requesting Austria's support in this regard.
Leanca thanked the Austrian side for the valuable assistance provided to our country through the Austrian Development Agency and the bilateral cooperation strategy Austria-Moldova for 2016-2020.
Also, the deputy premier invited Blümel to visit our country in the nearest time, depending on the agenda of the Federal Minister for European Affairs, considering that Austria will take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July.
In a public speech at the Austrian Foreign Policy Association, Leanca informed about the political and economic situation in Moldova, the priority of the European vector, the regional and international situation. The participants in the discussion, including political and economic experts, diplomats, lawyers, representatives of Austrian state institutions and journalists were interested in the phenomenon of migration, the Transnistrian issue and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Moldova, as well as the efforts to recover national economy and ensure political stability.
