Eighth contingent of soldiers deployed to Kosovo returns home

Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/- The eighth contingent of the National Army, deployed to the KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, returned today to Chisinau.
The contingent, made up of 40 officers and non-commissioned officers, was welcomed by the leadership of the Defense Ministry and the National Army, soldiers and relatives, at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the institution. They were decorated with government diplomas and distinctions of the National Army.
Defense Minister Eugen Sturza said that the servicemen showed that Moldova has a well trained human potential, trained according to modern standards, ready to act in international peacekeeping operations.
The eighth contingent of the National Army was in Kosovo in December 2017 - June 2018. The soldiers carried out patrol missions, land research, escorting and guarding strategic objectives.
Moldovan peacekeepers were part of the Multinational Peacekeeping Force (KFOR) and were deployed in the Camp Vilaggio in Pech, Kosovo. The first Moldovan contingent went to Kosovo in March 2014.
