Meteorologists forecast high air temperatures for upcoming days in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ – After rains of recent days, hot temperatures return to force and will maintain throughout Moldova until upcoming weekend, after which weather will cool down.

According to the SHS’s information and media communication service, by Friday, 22 June, there are expected temperatures to exceed 30ºC throughout Moldova. There will be temperatures of 18ºC – 22ºC at night.

There are possible some electricity discharges on 21 – 23 June in all regions of Moldova, following with the cooling down of the weather. Thus, the SHS forecasts that on Saturday, thermometres will indicate 23 – 25ºC in the north and 24 – 27ºC in central and southern areas. There are expected 10 – 15ºC during the night – time. Some relatively cooler temperatures will maintain until Monday, 25 June.

According to meteorologists' multiannual observations, June is as such most rainy month of year. The average monthly rainfall in Moldova is 62 – 95 mm, and number of precipitation days averages 10 – 13. According to data of specialists, highest monthly rainfall reached 330 mm (Branesti, Rascani, 1985), and highest daily quantity was 193 mm (Valea Rusului, Falesti, 1985).

The number of days in June with maximum air temperature ≥30ºC is on average 2 (Bravicea) – 6 (Tiraspol) days, maximum noticed being 20 days (Ribnita, 1999). The number of days with maximum air temperature ≥35ºC does not exceed an average of one day, but in some years it may signal up to 8 days (Falesti, 2012). The days with maximum air temperature ≥40ºC were noted only in 2012, in Falesti (one day).
