Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - The government of Lithuania will implement in Moldova a project on consolidation of the capacities of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) in the field of export of fowl and eggs to the European Union.
The project was launched in Chisinau today and is to be carried out by ANSA, in partnership with the national institute for the analysis of risks in the food and veterinary sector, as well as the State Food and Veterinary Service from Lithuania.
“The goal of the project consists in providing assistance to Moldova’s government to adjust sanitary and phyto-sanitary measures with EU’s legal requirements. This envisages the implementation of the needed legislation, enhancing opportunities for Moldovan producers of food and farming products to export to the European Union,” Lithuanian Ambassador to Moldova Rimantas Latakas has said at the project’s launch.
Under the project, specialists of the two countries will carry out, by common consent, more activities, in line with the requirements of certification, commercialization and labeling of fowl and eggs. They will organize official controls and audit, based on risks. Lithuanian specialists will contribute also to the development of capacities of the Republican Centre of Veterinary Diagnosis from Moldova in identifying and serotyping salmonella. At the same time, study and training visits to Lithuania will be organized for specialists from Moldova.
“We are sure that the implementation of this project will contribute to the improvement of the capacities of export of agro-food products from Moldova to EU and other countries,” ANSA director general Gheorghe Gaberi said.
