Moldovan Democrats to settle problem of Balti waste

Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/- The land, on which the waste disposal polygons are located in Balti, could be subject to expropriation. The leader of the Democrats, Vlad Plahotniuc, made the statement today. He noted that the issue came in sight of PDM, after he received a request from officials of Balti city hall.

According to Plahotniuc, the Democratic Party of Moldova will try to settle the crisis definitively, so that the citizens will no longer suffer.

"I personally received a request from some officials from Balti city hall to personally get involved in solving the problem, which they have not yet managed to solve, namely that related to the storage of household rubbish. The polygon, where the municipal waste is stored, is managed by an economic agent, and Balti city hall has no free access to this land, which has been generating many conflicts for a long time," he said.

He said that following discussions with colleagues at the meeting, some solutions to this issue were identified.

"This polygon, although managed by an economic agent, is actually in the territory of two villages, Ţambula and Bilicenii Noi, and the mayor of Ţambula, as well as the mayor of Balti, is the exponent of the Our Party. We believe it is fair that this land is to be transmitted to the village of Ţambula, so that there will be no misunderstandings and various speculations," he said.

Last December, at the request of Balti authorities, the government provided support for waste disposal in Balti municipality.
