Activity of National Agency for Food Safety to improve in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ – The structure of the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) will be optimised and it will operate under a new Regulation. The Executive has approved a decision on it today, as to improve the quality of food safety controls.
According to the government's communication and protocol department, draft provides for approval in a new draft of Regulation on organisation and operation of ANSA, maintaining its current status – a central administrative authority subordinated to Government. The document establishes mission, functions and rights of Agency. The ANSA will have competences in the fields of: veterinary, phytosanitary and plant protection, food safety, wine and alcoholic products and production, consumer protection in food sector, occupational safety and compliance with licencing terms.
Also, there were approved limit staff, ANSA organigram, list of border inspection posts and territorial subdivisions. Also, it was established the list of public institutions subordinated to ANSA – Republican Veterinary Diagnostic Centre, Central Alcohol/Non – Alcohol Testing Lab and Conserved Products and Central Phytosanitary Lab.
The changes were made following the reorganisation of ANSA and extension of its attributions in context of the reform of state controls.
