Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ – The import of petroleum products through the eastern border of Moldova for economic agents in the Transnistrian region was extended until 31 December 2018, according to a modification made today by the Government on its decision of 09 November 2016.
The decision of 09 November provided for customs clearance of Bender – 2 oil products introduced at border crossing point Novosavitskaya – Cuciurgan by 31 December 2016. The protocol decision "On principles of plenary resumption of movement of trains by the Transnistrian region" was taken in August 2016, Ukraine stopped import of petroleum products for Transnistrian region by rail through Colbasna – Slobodca and Cuciurgan border crossing points. As a result, fuel traffic was redirected to Ocniţa border crossing point, after which it was transported to the railway stations Ribnita and Bender – 2.
The decision was in force until 31 December 2016 and was subsequently extended by Government Decision until 01 July 2017 and 31 December 2017 and then by 01 July 2018. It was established a common customs control mechanism at Ribnita and Bender – 2 from 31 December 2017 which allows export of goods directly through the Transnistrian region under full control of Customs Service of Moldova. As an economic effect, this decision shortens transportation route of goods by almost 400 km, corresponding to interests of companies on both sides of the Dniester.
